As IPL is heading towards its business end, race to reach the qualify stage has belt up. Even though, there are only couple of matches remained for each of those teams, only Delhi Daredevils have qualified for the Playoffs and rest three spots are still up for grab. Pune Warriors and Deccan Chargers are the only teams to go out of the race with their streak of lose.
Given the condition, there are six teams battling it out for only three spots and almost each team has a match remaining against rest of the five team. Only Kolkata Knight Riders and Rajasthan Royals are the teams yet to play one match against Pune Warriors and Deccan Chargers giving them a slight advantage. However, Rajasthan is lying 6th in the table with only 14 points needing to win both their games if at all they want any kind of chance to qualify.
However, the biggest crisis if for defending champions Chennai Super Kings having only one match to play with 17 points. If at all they lose their last match, their contention to grab a spot in qualifying stage would become thin. Even though, Kolkata looked comfortable till now, their two continuous defeats in last two matches have made the task bit difficult for them. At the same time, even Kings XI Punjab is also fighting out for a spot in spite of being seventh in the table and last in the race of qualifying.
All in all, IPL’s qualifying race has made its point table like a mid table crisis and next few days will provide lots of excitement to viewers as teams battle it out in the middle.
