Discover the Difference between Comic Books and Graphic Novels

There are countless differences between comic books and graphic novels. For one thing, you can notice that a common comic book is way thinner than a graphic novel. The outer cover of a common book is also a thin paper. A comic is expected to begin or end a story that has been told in another comic book. However, in case of graphic novel, the story may end in the same book and the covering is also very different. Both the comic books and the graphic novels are supposed to tell the story with the help of some pictures. Comic books have sequels but graphic novels have a single story, every time. There is no sequel or a series. You can get the entire story in a single comic book.

There are many comic stories that have been republished as single books and they give an impression of a graphic novel. There are many other trade paperbacks that are being sold online. There are many comic stores that are offering graphic novels. However, one thing is certain: graphic novels are always available in greater stock. Graphic novels can also be found at various booksellers. However, comic books are only offered at comic book stores. There are very few comic books that are distributed through booksellers. A graphic novel usually ranges from 60 to 120 pages and is written in a mature tone.

Comic books are written for kids and teenagers. Graphic novels are not appropriate for young readers as they are written for adults. Some of the novels may constitute of violent pictures and sexual content. Therefore, graphic novels are not recommended for kids at all. They not only talk about violent deaths but also illustrate them through images. The graphic novels are given a standard book number. On the other hand, a comic book is given a standard serial number.
